Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

The Assistant Professor is a full-time academic role focused on teaching, research, and service. Responsibilities include delivering high-quality instruction, conducting impactful research, mentoring students, and contributing to departmental and university initiatives. Principal Responsibilities

The program chair will receive reports from the assistant professor.

Candidates must exhibit a strong capacity for both teaching and research excellence. A globally renowned research program will be established and maintained by the chosen candidates, who will also be expected to work with other faculty members, oversee students, secure outside financing, and instruct computer science courses.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates having a doctorate in computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related discipline will be given preference. Candidates who are less than a term away from finishing their Ph.D. dissertation and who have finished all of their doctoral work save the dissertation will be taken into consideration. Additionally, it is necessary to comprehend and support the Aria’s objective. The candidate should have prior computer science teaching expertise. The chosen applicant must be able to share their thoughts on diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI) and explain how they will support and strengthen Aria’s and the department’s work in this area.

  • Proficiency in establishing external collaborations to further research and education, as well as enabling ongoing enhancements to the department’s financing and reputation.

  • Capacity to instruct courses in machine learning, natural language processing, and computational linguistics with relevance to Indian and South Asian languages

  • Understanding of the standards, procedures, and program review and assessment processes for ABET/WSCUC accreditation

  • Innovation experience in higher education

  • Excellent communication abilities, particularly the capacity to persuasively promote UofSA to all audiences

  • Documentation of research and publications

  • A dedication to continuous education throughout one’s life.
