Its modern concert tradition was shaped during the 17th and 18th centuries, reaching remarkable artistic maturity through the contributions of the celebrated Trinity of Carnatic music—Tyāgarāja, Muttusvāmi Dīkṣita, and Śyāma Śāstri. Their compositions, alongside the works of numerous composers from diverse regions and traditions, form the bulk of compositions in a Carnatic concert and continue to inspire musicians and audiences around the world.
